Holding a fun 'second 18th birthday'

Posted on: 21 November 2016

It's easy to have a raging party when you and all of your friends are in your late teens and early twenties with fewer responsibilities. However, as you all get older the parties can get a lot more sedate. If you are looking to turn up the party intensity as you get older, here are some tips to make your 'second 18th birthday' (36th) nearly as crazy as your first one!

Hire a party bus

One of the things that can unintentionally drag down a party is one person in every couple not drinking so that the non-drinker can be the designated driver. You can bypass some of these worries by doing party bus hire so you can get everyone transported to and from the venue without needing to worry about driving. It also creates a fun and lively atmosphere so that everyone can relax and start partying early on without needing to organise parking or other options. A party bus can even be hired with an in-house DJ to keep the tunes cranking and get your ideal party atmosphere started. Even if there's not a DJ, you'll still be able to hook up your own phone or other music player to play exactly the kind of music you want and love.

Think about a fun theme

If you are planning on reliving your 18th birthday, it can be a great idea to choose a theme around your 18th year. This can include a playlist of the top songs for that year, as well as getting everyone to come dressed in appropriate gear (time to break out the grunge outfits or Spice Girls-inspired attire). Make sure that your invites get everyone in the mood for the theme with some inspiring photos and phrases.

Plan a clever route

If most of your crowd is in their late thirties, it can be awkward to be in a nightclub or other venue where you are the oldest person in the venue. It can be fun to plan a schedule that takes into account everyone in your groups' current tastes such as a pub crawl of microbreweries or a tasting trip of local independent whisky distilleries. By setting the venues right you can be sure that everyone has a fun time and does not feel out of place during the party.

If you are looking to have a fun party in your mid-thirties, then a 'second 18th' birthday can be a fun theme.
